WALTHAM, Mass.
 – October 12, 2018 – The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) announced recently that Tanisha Salmon, a Realtor® with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Jamaica Plain, was named the 2018 MAR Good Neighbor Award winner for her work on behalf of Begin to Dream Again. The Good Neighbor Award recognizes Realtors® for their community activism. The award was presented at MAR’s Professional Awards Reception, which was held in September at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

Salmon founded Begin to Dream Again after the heart-wrenching experience of having her wedding canceled just two weeks away from her big day. In addition to a broken heart, she was left with a fully paid venue that could not be refunded. Salmon decided to use the wedding venue to host a benefit for approximately 200 homeless women. She began to gain insight into the overwhelming number of women living in poverty and struggling to overcome homelessness. Today, Begin to Dream Again is a 501(c)3 charity that offers long-term, transitional support to women experiencing homelessness and poverty. Begin to Dream Again is currently seeking members to serve on their Board of Directors.

“Our Good Neighbor award winner took a devastating personal experience and turned it into a positive for hundreds of homeless women,” said 2018 MAR President Rita Coffey, general manager of CENTURY 21 Tullish & Clancy in Weymouth. “Tanisha Salmon exemplifies the compassion and ingenuity all Realtors® can aspire to.”

About The MAR Good Neighbor Award:

Established in 2004 and presented annually, the MAR Good Neighbor Award recognizes Realtors® who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to community service through volunteerism and civic and charitable contributions that improve the lives of local residents and make their community a better place to live.

Entries are accepted from industry practitioners and the 13 local Realtor® associations in Massachusetts, and selection of the award recipients is made by a sub-committee of the MAR Communications & Public Relations Committee.  The award recipients receive a commemorative trophy and a grant from the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® in the name of their designated charity.
