Legal & Government Affairs Assistant

The Massachusetts Association of Realtors® is a professional trade association for licensed real estate practitioners. Membership in the organization is voluntary and consists of both residential and commercial agents and brokers as well as industry affiliates. MAR’s membership currently consists of approximately 24,000 real estate licensees, and only association members are authorized to use the trademark term, Realtor®.

The Legal & Government Affairs Assistant provides administrative support to the Legal & Government Affairs Department.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responds to member inquiries via email, phone and in person and prepares various member communications including emails, blog posts, memos and letters.
  • Provides administrative support to the department in such matters as meeting scheduling and preparation, creating various materials and brochures, maintaining/updating the website, processing legal hotline calls, etc.
  • Supports the activities of various committees including revising bylaws and forms and completing assigned research projects.
  • Compiles data related to the Realtor Political Action Committee including preparing monthly reports, tracking and reporting on local and state board performance in such areas as fundraising, participation, PAC status, etc.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, legal studies, communications or related field.
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Creative Suite or comparable programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data sets and summarize complex information in a succinct and easy to understand manner.
  • Must be able to research complex issues and draw usable conclusions.
